Loose Skin: Its Causes and Treatment
There are a few causes of loose skin. Loose skin may be the result of a rapid loss of weight, as after drastic dieting, illness or pregnancy. Some people find that the skin around their bellies, thighs and arms grow loose after they’ve had gastric by-pass surgery, which will cause them to lose weight very quickly, before the skin can adjust. Skin can also lose its elasticity due to the aging process.
There are many surgical cosmetic treatments that can be provided, however, the risk of complications must be taken into account as well as noticeable scarring following the healing process which is why Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center sought to provide a non-invasive skin tightening treatment.
Non-surgical treatments for loose skin are also available, and include a procedure called Skin Tyte, offered by the Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center. In this procedure, pulses of infrared light heat and coagulate the collagen beneath the skin while cooling and protecting the surface of the skin to reduce injury and pain. The infrared pulses stimulate the body’s healing mechanism, with tightens the skin. The procedure can be done without anesthesia and can take as little as a half an hour. Some patients see results after just one treatment, but some need a treatment a month for about two to five months.
Side effects of Skin Type may include swelling, redness and some discomfort. The treatment is contraindicated for people with blisters or sores on the treatment area, as well as people who suffer from autoimmune disease and pregnant women. |
